The fruit diet is relatively new to the weight loss industry and it has grown in popularity. The benefits are some what debatable as it does not follow the traditional well balanced eating plan. Some dieters would almost consider it to be a rapid weight loss method of losing those unwanted kilos. Unlike vegetarians, fruititarians are restricted to a very limited diet of fruit, with the exception of a few nuts and seeds. Water most also contain low minerals.
Many fruit diet followers have reported feeling a great sense of well-being, they are also unlikely to develop the typical flu or cold symptoms during the colder months of the year. Weight loss is also substantial especially in the first few months of following the program. It does have it's advantages in that you can eat as much fruit as you like throughout the day along with any preference. Whereas some diets limit the dieter to certain types of fruit, this program does not.
Personally I see quite a few disadvantages in the program, such as the restriction on places you can eat out and the general difficult social situations that occur in every day life for most people. Planning a dinner party around fruit alone probably won't seem to appetizing to your friends and family. Some have spoken about the condition of thrush in the mouth, which is extremely painful at the best of times. There is the question of whether the fruit diet can be sustained over a long period of time. One alternative to this program is the fruit flush diet where you only have to partake in it for three days. Most program followers have lost around 9 pounds with method. And it may be the best way to test your will power should you wish to continue with it long term.
